Sage's botanical name comes from the Latin word salvere, which means, to be saved. Sage is our savior, its scent, our origin story. There are over 900 species of Sage worldwide, with 19 of them having their origins in California. Among these native species are Hummingbird Sage, Pitcher Sage, Black Sage, Purple Sage, and White Sage — all currently growing wild at the Estate. The abundance of Sage in the Garden inspired the aroma of this candle.
